Why is the co-owner of an A.I. company telling you to fear A.I. companies?
I want you to ask yourself something. If you are not someone in the tech world or tech spaces, how often did you think about artificial intelligence three months ago? Six months ago? How about a year ago? Three years?
Although powerful tools like GATO have been operating commercially for 5+ years, AI has become a bigger topic now than ever. Every corner of the internet talks about it, specifically the dire warnings recently issued by “leaders” like Elon Musk.
According to Elon Musk, we have to pause the development of AI immediately for 6 months. Why? The Tesla Inc owner claims that we have reached a dangerous boiling point with AI and it now poses a direct risk to the future state of humanity. It’s a warning that has set the internet’s teeth on edge and created a firestorm of controversy (and Google searches).
The fear Musk’s warning has created is palpable. Now, people who were focusing on getting through a pandemic are now terrified that their robot overlords are coming to eat their children. It’s a carefully crafted fear and one that’s being poised intentionally. Not from a place of altruism or concern…no.
