A. Perhaps the best advice I’ve ever been given (when it comes to any relationship) is to only invest your time and energy into people who want the same ultimate things from life as you.

For example, don’t date or settle for someone who wants children when you know you don’t want to build a family. Or, don’t put a major investment into someone who doesn’t want to travel and see the world, when you know that’s what you want to do.
