True forgiveness requires a true apology from a place of remorse.
When someone hurts us, it can be in our best interest to forgive them. But how do we forgive someone and move on if we don’t get a sincere apology from them? To apologize to someone — and mean it — is to feel genuine compassion and remorse surrounding your behaviors or decisions. When someone gives you an insincere apology, it becomes harder to move on because you don’t feel as though you got the justice of respected emotions.
Don’t allow yourself to be fooled by a fake apology. Know the signs of insincerity so that you can put your forgiveness where it belongs.
