There’s an extra layer of trauma that comes as a result of growing up in poverty. Going to school becomes a nightmare. Living at home becomes a constant struggle in insecurity. Before you even learn to make sense of the world, you learn to move from a place of lack — always. In order to heal, you have to be honest and confront the trauma of your childhood in poverty.
