Q. I grew up in a dysfunctional home. How can I heal or find a way to stop living in fear? (via Tumblr)

A. When we grow up in a dysfunctional home, it warps our sense of self and the ways in which we connect to others. Being raised in chaos can teach us to bring that chaos in our intimate relationships and can cause to hit a crisis when it comes to building a life that means something.

In order to find happiness we have to heal, but that’s a hard road to travel. You have to find professional help, figure out how to effectively rebuild your self-esteem, and you have to also discover effective ways to re-parent ourselves and the broken inner children that live inside of us.

Be compassionate to yourself throughout this process, and surround yourself with positive people that want the best for you and your life. We are lifted up by those who lift themselves up, so elevate your social circles and commit to your journey of transforming the way you connect.
