Q. Is it possible to recover from narcissistic abuse?

A. Yes. I’ve done it myself. It’s not an easy road, though, and it’s certainly not a short one. The damage of narcissistic abuse runs deep and it affects the way we see ourselves and the way we see others.

You have to lean into your self-esteem and believe in yourself first, before you can even wake up to the full extent of the abuse. Once you love yourself, you can see things for what they are and start reaching out to the people who love you and support you for real.

It’s important that you don’t try to go this road alone. It’s not always easy to spot the signs of narcissistic abuse as they are insidious and subtle. Make sure you’re accessing a support network or a mental health professional with experience resolving the trauma of narcissistic abuse.
